DESCRIPTION : Here is an early 19th century Coalport porcelain small/miniature demitasse cup and saucer. The cup of flaring form with a double entwined gilt serpent handle. The cup is enamelled with small panels of garden blooms on a royal blue and gilt embellished ground and having the same decoration and a shallow recessed well. Both pieces are unmarked but Coalport very rarely marked their early wares.
Dates to circa 1810 to 1815. This cup and saucer is illustrated as in plate 58, page 110 of the Coalport 1795 to 1920 book.SIZE : They cup measures 1 3/4 inches high and 2 3/8 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 4 1/16 in diameter. Weighs 137 g before packing. CONDITION : Apart from a small area of gilt ware to the top of the handle as in picture 9 and very minor gilt ware the cup and saucer is in very good condition. No chips, cracks or restoration.
