Wileman & Co Shelley GREEN IVY Demitasse Cup & Saucer c. Offering a gorgeous and rare set of six (6) antique demitasse cup and saucer sets by J. In the Green Ivy pattern, #4922 , production beginning in 1889.

This lovely pattern has green ivy on a white Daisy shape with a scalloped edge finished with gold trim. The pattern registration number 175636 in green and the.

Cup measures 2 high x 2 7/8 in diameter. Saucer measures 5 in diameter. Set is in very good antique condition free of chips, cracks or repairs except whats noted: one saucer has a very small nick on the edge however it looks to be finished over so its possible it occurred during the manufacturing process and another saucer has a circular craquelure around the well from aging.

A few saucers have minor scratches from use. The cups are all free from staining though some do have rough spots and specks on the interior as common with Wileman china (see below).

Very little gold loss noted on all sets. Kilns were fired on coal in the late 1800s, and this meant that china from that period can have some firing specks from flying particles. One reason Wileman was able to bring high quality tableware on the market for modest prices is that they decided to pass items with firing specks rather than discarding them and creating costly waste. This set is relatively free from these imperfections, but you will see some under the glazing.
