I have not seen this pattern very often but it is reminiscent of the yellow tiger (Gelber Löwe) pattern. Each piece has a lone yellow tiger to it with its tongue hanging out and a red and green banded hedge with Kakiemon style plants coming out of them plus a few colorful blossoms scattered about under the hedges.
Each piece also has a gold trim just under the nicely shaped edge. The handle of the cup is superb as well. This size cup is not easy to find and I like them better than regular sized pieces since they take up less room in the cabinet. The set is in perfect great with a minor touch of wear and a rough spot on the inner edge of the saucer which looks to have been a bubble that popped during the last firing which also explains the set being denoted a second choice. The cup has a small firing spot on the bottom inside.
Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath (2nd quality) as well as the usual impressed marks one expects from pieces of this period as shown. The cup is just under 2 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 4.375 inches.
