Antique Feuillet Old Paris Sevres Porcelain Demitasse Cups & Saucers Set Of 4
SIGNED FEUILLET - RARE BIRD DECORATED OLD PARIS PORCELAIN. Each cup is finely hand-painted with exotic birds, including parrots, while the saucers feature naturalistic bird vignettes (finches and other species), all set within lavish Empire green grounds with extensive hand-applied and burnished gilt decoration. The alternating bird reserves and intricate gilt latticework reflect the highest level of Paris porcelain production during the Restoration period. Bird subjects are widely regarded as the most desirable and collectible theme in early Paris porcelain, prized for their connection to early 19th-century ornithological illustration and the exceptional skill required to render them convincingly. Sets combining birds + Empire green + a named decorator are especially sought after. Each piece is signed "Feuillet" to the underside, with an accompanying blue workshop cipher, confirming authorship by this elite Paris decorating atelier. Diameter × 2 3/4 in.
Diameter × 1 1/8 in. Great overall condition with minor gilt loss consistent with age. One cup has a tiny flea-bite to the rim, unobtrusive and shown in photos.
