CONDITION: Excellent, first quality, without defects of any kind. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the 1890s. It has the shield mark under the glaze.
The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. The cup is 1 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 2 inches. The cup features a gracefully curled handle with fine gold accents.The decoration is hand painted and hand gilded. Strips of pink ribbons run across the porcelain. Delicate vines of flowers with gold leaves cling to the ribbons. The pattern is unusual and familiar at the same time. Brocaded material used in upholstery or drapes might have this type of pattern.
