CONDITION: Dark spot inside cup and separation of porcelain bottom of cup, not a crack, does not go through. These are flaws which occurred during the manufacturing process which were unavoidable. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Vienna, Austria by Royal Vienna in 1778.There are impressed numbers on the bottom of the cup. Both pieces are marked with the blue under glaze bee hive marking. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/4 inches.
The cup is 1 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 2 3/8 inches. The porcelain is very fine and delicate. The cup features a hand applied twisted branch handle. Bright pink borders trim appear to be little bricks on each piece.Sprays of colorful hand painted flowers and little buds decorate the cup and saucer. You can see the similarity to Meissen's painting style. There is scrolled gilding and other gilded accents. This is a charming little cup and saucer that is authentic Royal Vienna.
