Antique Vienna Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Cupid & Lady

  

CONDITION: Slight imperfection to gilding on side of cup. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Austria by a Vienna decorator.

It has a blue beehive marking under the glaze. The title on the cup is "Lieberspiel" or love game.

The saucer is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 1 5/8 inches. The hand painted scene on the front of the cup shows a young beauty with Cupid sitting on her lap. The painting is done with fine detail and bright coloring. There is an artist's signature on the cup.

The sides of the cup and parts of the saucer are peach colored, accented with hand gilding. There are gold panels and raised beaded gilding. The cup is gilded inside down to the bottom of the cup.
