Exquisite Set of 6 Antique Royal Vienna Porcelain Demitasse Cups & Saucers - Circa 1798. This is a museum-quality set of six (6) demitasse cups and saucers from the prestigious Sorgenthal Era of the Imperial State Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna. Featuring the iconic underglaze blue beehive (shield) mark and the rare impressed year mark "98", this set is a definitive example of late 18th-century Austrian artistry. Relief Gilding: The floral motifs feature hand-applied "raised gold" (relief gilding), a tactile and expensive technique reserved for the factory's finest works.

Gold Wash Interiors: Each cup is fully gilded on the interior with a brilliant, mirror-like burnished finish. Neoclassical Pattern: Decorated with a stunning burgundy (Pompeian Red) band, white "jeweled" enamel dots, and stylized palmette/anthemion motifs in cobalt blue and gold. Empire Handles: Elegant angular gilded handles characteristic of the period. Excellent Antique Condition: The gilding and hand-painting are remarkably vibrant for pieces over 220 years old. Details: Three cups show minor nicks/flea bites on the unglazed underside foot rim (last photo) One handle shows a very minor superficial scratch/hard to see.
