Rare Antique Villeroy & Boch Dresden Blue Wild-Rose Demitasse Cups & Saucers - Set of 6 - Mercury Stamp c. This is a rare opportunity to own a complete set of six (6) antique demitasse/espresso cups and saucers from the historic Villeroy & Boch Dresden factory. While the "Wild Rose" name is famous for its mid-century pink version, this set is a much earlier, turn-of-the-century ancestor. It features a classic blue-and-white floral pattern that exemplifies the elegant Art Nouveau style of the late 1800s.

Each piece bears the authentic Villeroy & Boch Dresden "Mercury Head" backstamp. History of the Dresden Factory.

The Dresden facility was established by Villeroy & Boch in 1856 to compete with the world's finest porcelain manufacturers. Known for its "Dresden Earthenware, " the factory became world-renowned for its intricate relief work and "Printed Under Glaze" (PUG) techniques. The Mercury backstamp is one of the most coveted marks by collectors, signifying a period of peak artistic production before the factory was largely destroyed during WWII. Owning a set with this mark is owning a piece of pre-war German history. Maker: Villeroy & Boch (Dresden Factory).

Pattern: Wild-Rose (Blue & White Floral). Era: Late Victorian / Edwardian c. Quantity: 6 Cups and 6 Saucers. 2.5" x 2" (Demitasse/Espresso size). These pieces have been well-preserved. There are no chips, cracks, or restorations.

Due to their age, you may find light crazing or minor glaze "flea bites" typical of antique Dresden earthenware, which confirms their authenticity and age.
