This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in France by Haviland & Company Limoges in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 1/8 inches high.
The style of work is reminiscent of that done at the Sevres factory a century before. The ground color is cobalt blue. Elaborate raised gilding, in two color gold, is augmented with hand enameling.
The interior rim of the cup has embossed gilding. The handle has raised gold work and there is beaded gold trim on both pieces. The contrast of all of this rich gilding against the cobalt blue ground is highly unusual and quite spectacular. FOR OUR CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE US. The Post Office requires this.
