Antique Royal Worcester Gilman Collamore Co Aethestic Movement Cabinet Cup Saucer. This piece features a Japanese aesthetic movement design featuring a textured sakura blossom burnt yellow base color, over which Peonies, Sakura branches, and Chrysanthemums have been painted by hand and outlined with 22k gold gilt. The trimming has also been painted gold.

Both the bottom of the cup and saucer feature a porcelain mark that reads "Gilman Collamore & Co Union Square New York" along with the Royal Worcester mark. Was a high-end New York City importer of porcelain and glass, headed by Davis Collamore (7 October 1820 13 August 1887).

The firm, rivals to Tiffany & Co. And Black, Starr & Frost, commissioned designs from Copeland Spode and Thomas Minton Sons, that featured hand-painted details over transfer-printed outlines and often rich gilding.

Davis Collamore was among the first to recognize the beauty and value of American-made cut glass and also offered Rookwood Pottery, for which they were the representatives at the Exposition Universelle, Paris 1889. Dating this piece: The Royal Worcester mark on this piece dates it exactly to the year 1885.

This piece is part of a larger collection of vintage and antique tea, cabinet demitasse cups that I have recently aquired from an antique Philadelphia Mainline estate. Cup Height: 2.10 inches. Cup Width: 3.25 inches.

Cup Mouth Diameter: 2.25 inches. Saucer Height: 0.5 inches. Saucer Width: 4.5 inches.
