This marvelous set of 2 demitasse or espresso cups and saucers are created in sterling silver and were likely made by Moore & Hofman of Newark, NJ in 1922. The upside down bell shaped cup has beautiful pierced fretwork in a floral design and these marvelous cups rest on short pedestals. There is a lovely "C" handle. The lovely saucers are without decoration and have a glossy finish with a well to seat the cup and appear to be hand-chased. Porcelain liners have a gold gilt edge.
Hallmarks are: MH, which likely represents Morre & Hofman of Newark, NJ, Sterling. Measurements for these fabulous creations are: Cups: Height from top to bottom=2 inches, Width at widest including handle=2-3/4 inches, Depth=2 inches. This marvelous pair of 2 demitasse cups and saucers have been well cared for, gently used and are in excellent antique condition, free from repairs.
The saucers have a few scratches and nicks that do not diminish the beauty or usability of these fabulous saucers. The porcelain liner is free from chips, cracks or other imperfections with gold gilt intact with few losses. They are the perfect addition to your serving ware, particularly if you like the Art Deco style!
