This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Doulton in the 1920s. It was produced especially for Ovingtons, a fine department store in New York. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The porcelain is fine, white bone china. The ground color is powder blue.
This is a medium blue which is speckled or mottled with a lighter shade of blue. The set is decorated with elaborate raised gold decorations. There are bands of heavy embossed gold on both pieces. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold.
