Cunard Line RMS CARPATHIA / LUSITANIA-Era 1st-Class Demitasse Cup (RMS TITANIC Interest). A fine demitasse cup and saucer for the Cunard Steamship Company by Minton. The cup and saucer are marked with the Cunard Steamship Company logo to the front. The bottoms are each hallmarked: Mintons in crowned globe over England, dating this cup between 1891 and 1912. Dishware of this pattern have been recovered from the CARPATHIA wreck-site.

The set is over 109 years old and in great condition with normal damage commensurate to its age and usage. The cup handle was reattached, at a prior time, and there is a hairline in the bowel of the saucer. ITEM DIMENSIONS (approximate): Saucer: 4-1/2 Dia. ITEM WEIGHT (approximate): 6 oz. In 1977 I read a book about sea disasters and one of the stories was about a White Star Liner called RMS TITANIC.

I do not know why she caught my attention, but I began to read everything about her that I could find in my local library: Walter Lords iconic A Night To Remember, Lawrence Beesleys The Loss of the S. Titanic, and Archibald Gracies The Truth About The Titanic.

These books fueled my curiosities and whet my appetite for more knowledge. TITANIC would spur a life-long interest of literature and history.

Over 40 years later, those original three books have grown into a large eclectic library and artifact collection covering numerous topics. Every historical item is special, capturing a specific time and place in our history. Each piece is unique and has its own personal story to tell; the who, what, where, and the why that we may never know. I would like to get this item back in circulation and give someone else an opportunity to enjoy a sample of my Antiques, Steamships, and Sundries. Personal Conservator Notes on Historical Artifacts and Ephemera. All Items are from my personal collection. These are historically invaluable treasures to me, and I do my best to treat them as such. All items are stored and displayed in a smoke free home or storage area.

I try to maintain a RH of 45-55%, with an ambient temperature of 74 degrees. These are the most important factors for a collection. I do not use flash photography on ephemera or textiles. I do not display artifacts or ephemera in direct sunlight. I handle documents and photos with the use of white cotton research gloves.

I handle unstable ceramics and glass with the use of nitrile gloves. I hand wash and dry silver goods.

I limit the polishing of silver, as this process removes a layer of plating each time. However, many of the sale items will receive a light polish to enhance their appearance and defects in the photos. This item was displayed or photographed in a home with a small dog, a Japanese Chin. Keep this in mind if you have dog hair allergies. All fraudulent buyers will be immediately and permanently blocked from future business. Please take this into account.
