This is a complete set of 12 Herend demitasse/after dinner cups with matching saucers. They are in the beautiful Rothchild birds pattern; with 6 scalloped top edge cups, and 6 plain top edged cups. Each piece bears the older Herend shield makers mark in blue, which dares back to 1915 through 1930. This shield mark features only the word Hungary, as the word Herend is impressed. All Herend marks omitted the word Herend up untill 1948.

The decorations are the same on the 2 variations, featuring colorful birds, butterflies and bugs (which mix and match perfectly). Herend, of Hungary has produced hand crafted luxury luxury porcelain for 185 years; as the company was founded in 1826.

This is a name that is infamous for its top of the line, hand painted pieces. The Rothchild pattern was created exclusively for the Rothchild family of Europe in 1860. It was produced continually up until the late 1990's. Obviously, for collecting purposes, this much older mark is more highly sought after and valued, than the newer pieces. All 24 pieces present in excellent condition, despite their great age. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches anywhere to be found. The scalloped top cups have a gold handle, and the plain top cups have a green handle. Both versions feature the basket weave impressed design around the top of the cups, and the rims of the saucers.

The birds are done in assorted colors, and the butterflies and bugs appear in yellow, blue, and pink. Any of these Rothchild pieces are perfectly interchangeable with any of your other Rothchild serving pieces. The cups stand 2 and a 1/2 in tall, and the saucers 4 and a 1/2 in across.
