C289 Mintons Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Christopher Dresser
This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Mintonsin 1881. The date chipper indicates this year. The diameter of the saucer is 4 7/8, the cup is 2 1/4 high and diameter of opening 2 ½. The set is decorated with cloisonné enamel. The design is the epitome of aesthetic style, created by Christopher Dresser, renowned designer of that period.
Lotus blossoms and reeds reach up over the porcelain. It is a stunning contrast against the bright pink ground color.
Gilded bands, highlighted with hand painted black designs enhance the rims and handle. This is a very rare example of Mintons cloisonné work. FOR OUR CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE US. The Post Office requires this.
