Vintage Shofu China Coffee/demitasse Sevice-Occupied Japan. Saucer that was broken and glued. Very attractive set of fine china from Occupied Japan.

Porcelain is hand painted and very. All pieces bear the Show stamp on the bottom. Pattern: Gold Flowers & Leaves. Color: Cream & White with Gold Trim. 1 Coffee Pot 6 1/2" high without lid, 7 1/2" high with lid. 6 Demitasse Cups 2" high, 2 1/2" across.

6 Saucers - 4 1/2 across. Condition: All pieces are in fair/good condition. The cream coloring is somewhat faded and the gold trim/design is worn in some spots. The coffee pot, creamer and 5 settings are free from chips, breaks and crazing.

One cup has small chip on lip. One of the saucers was broken and glued together (with an chip missing).

Again, see photos for details. Following the end of World War II in 1945 and until 1952, items imported from Japan to the United States had to be marked in a fashion indicating they came from Occupied Japan.

Although four different marks were used on cups and saucers during this time ("Japan, " "Made in Japan, " "Occupied Japan, " and "Made in Occupied Japan"), only the last two marks guarantee the pieces were made in the Occupied Japan timeframe. For serious Occupied Japan collectors, it is items with these two marks for which they search. _gsrx_vers_1730 GS 9.9.4 (1730).
