Exquisite duo of fine Antique hard paste porcelain cylinder coffee cans and saucers. Intricately painted in quadrants, with mirroring old time nautical scenes and romantic floral sprays against vivid gold. Each section is bordered by free form gold swirls and unique from the others. Each cup is further enhanced by a gold draping swag to the interior rim.
The only mark is on the bottom of one cup, stamped in green over glaze, HA&L. Presumably a Dresden area decorating studio, which I have not been able to identify. I strongly believe this made before 1883, when 4 prominent ceramic decorators officially registered the famous Dresden mark. At which point there were at least 40 porcelain painting studios located near or in the city of Dresden. In remarkable condition for its age. There is some minor gilding loss, mainly to the floral sections of one saucer. A faint (underglaze) hairline and brown discoloration where the glaze has flaked off, on bottom of one saucer. No chips, repairs or cracks.2.75 inches across top & handle. Each saucer: 4.25 inches in diameter. When collecting antique porcelain, you are collecting one of the most delicate & beautiful artworks of their time. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
