Antique Royal Worcester Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Aesthetic
This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Worcester in1883. The date letter indicates this year. The saucer is 4 3/4 long and 3 3/4 wide.
The cup is 2 1/2 high and the opening measures 2 1/4 by 1 5/8. The set has a unique rectangular shape with rounded corners.
The porcelain is molded in high relief with branches of leaves and vines with flowers. The leaves and branches are painted in green with outlines and accents in gold. Alternating panels have a pattern of cherry blossoms similar to chintz designs. Note the style of the handle. This is a fine representative piece of the Aesthetic Style Worcester excelled in creating.
