Haviland Limoges Hand Painted Porcelain Demitasse Tea Cups & Saucers Set of 6
This set of 6 porcelain demitasse tea cups and saucers were made by Haviland & Co. All pieces have the Haviland over France mark used by the company from about 1894 until 1931. The pieces are also signed with the initials of the artist, MMG. I think they were painted by a very talented amateur, as it was a popular hobby around this time. The cups and saucers are pale blue, with different floral chains on each cup, and gold gilded handles. The details on the flowers are very well done. The flowers painted are pink Roses, purple Coneflowers (I think), blue Forget-me-nots, purple and yellow Pansies, white Daisies, and red Holly berries. Each cup measures approximately 2 3/4" tall and 2 1/2" wide, not including the handles. They hold about 4 ounces. The saucers are 5 in diameter. The set is in very good condition. The Pansy cup has a crack, as seen in the last photo. That is the only crack, and there are no chips. There is a bit of surface wear, but the set looks beautiful.
