Ott & Brewer 171 American Belleek Demitasse Cup & Saucer Gilt Floral & Butterflies Raised Gilt Decoration. An Ott & Brewer, Trenton, New Jersey, USA, American Belleek, egg shell parian porcelain, demitasse cup and Saucer fashioned in a ribbed shape with a fancy double handle with raised gilt decoration featuring flowers, leaves and butterflies. The parian porcelain bodies are extremely thin and translucent in a ribbed shape to resemble a Limpet or Echinus sea shell design.
The pieces are glazed in a brilliant gloss glaze and then hand painted with the gold gilt decoration. The cup has matte gold lightly brushed on the handle. The rims of the cup and the saucer are outlined in brilliant gold.
The mark on the bottom of the cup and saucer is number 2 crescent mark in red with the word Belleek inside the new moon and an O&B. This mark is listed in the book by Loman and Petula Eng "Collecting American Belleek". The cup and saucer dates from 1883 to 1893. The mark on the cup is very hard to see.
SIZE: Cup 2-1/2" diameter x 1-3/4" tall Saucer 4-1/2 diameter. CONDITION: Excellent with no damage or repairs.
