Antique Coalport Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Blue Birds & Bamboo, Gilded

  
CONDITION: Saucer has slight wear to gilding in well. Saucer has slight crazing on back, white side. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Coalport in the 1890s. The saucer is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. The cup is 1 7/8 inches tall with a diameter of 1 3/4 inches. The ground is gold metallic paint. The decoration of birds in bamboo are hand painted "flow blue". Tiny birds are flying through the branches of bamboo. The checkerboard type pattern accents the rims and well of the saucer.
