This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Austria by Ernst Wahliss in the 1890s. The area was known as Bohemia at that time.
The marking is barely visible but the style and quality of workmanship is undeniably Wahliss. We have seen other signed Wahliss pieces with hand painted gold inventory numbers. The shape of the cup is high art nouveau. The looped feet on the cup and the elaborate handle are unique to this period. The decoration of raised translucent enamel is reminiscent of work done by the Royal Berlin Manufactory, or KPM.
The pattern of rose and green colored enamels is like mosaic tile work. There are light shades of pink and cream coloring in the upper panels. This is an extraordinary demitasse cup and saucer unlike any other. FOR OUR CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE US.
